3. Secretary's Report: Change
from Agenda to Minutes at top of report. Melanie made motion to approve minutes,
Chris second. All in favor.
4. Treasurer's Report: First
report of new fiscal year. Entered into Quick Books. Cash balance -$3,591.19. Announce at registration that we
will not be holding checks this year. Held in past due to fiscal year. Laura made motion to accept treasurers report as is, All second, all approved.
5. New Business
Jane will call Guy Otte to make sure school is
available for registration.
- Capital fund raising plan - tabled - MCAA -
Melanie will attend Monday, 8/22 meeting @ District Office
- Membership update (# of members so far) - 6
girls registered in basic skills, 23 members in full club so far. Income $465
expenses $702 club made up difference to pay for all of board members. Cost of
board registrations will double next year. 29 registered members so far.
- Skating time schedules - Al main contact with
Steve Hagman. Sunday’s will be 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday’s will be 3:30
- 6 p.m. Will be able to get some early mornings before school or Saturday mornings. Hope to have the information for the month on the extra hours. It has been confirmed with coaches that they are available Sunday nights.
No changes after registration unless approved with coach on time slots. Limit
to 15 skaters.
Thursday, option
1 = 3:30-4:15 FS 4 & up only Session #5, purchase club ice; 4:15 - 4:45 lessons Basic 8 & FS 1 & 2 & 3 group
lesson; 4:45-5:15 basic 3-7 for 11 lessons; 5:15-5:30Open skate for 15 minutes?;
5:30 - 6 basic 1 & 2 and adult group.
Sunday 5-9 p.m.
45 minute slots 5-5:45 club ice session #1; 5:45-6:30 club ice session
#2; 6:30-7:15 synchro; 7:15-7:30 zamboni 7:30-8:15 p.m. club ice session #3 8:15-9 p.m club ice session #4 (skaters USFS levels
pre-preliminary freeskate levels and above (12 maximum).
Synchro = $360/per
person estimate. Ideal is 12 skates with 1 alternate.
Saturday: 6:30-7:30 a.m. club ice Session #6 - open to any full club member
Al made motion
to approve option 1 with addition of Saturday ice session 6:30-7:30 a.m and keep
synchro for now on Sunday and keep Thursday 3:30-4:15 FS 4 and above and must be full club member to purchase packages. Melanie second, all if favor.
Badger State Weekend
for show date
- Fees and package structure - punch cards -
same as last year $8/session, 6 punches per card for $48.
One 45 min. session
= $60, 2 = $120, 3 = $180. Offer two sessions first and then on waiting list
for a 3rd session.
Plan on 10-20
or 10-27 for first day of group lessons. Basic skills = $90 first skater, $80
second skater ($170 for two skaters) for 11 sessions
Al made motion
to keep rates same as last year but initially can only purchase two club ice sessions, basic skills keep at 11 sessions for
$90 for first person, $80 for second person. Laura second, all in favor.
Membership = $13
for basic skills if register after October 1, late registration fee = add $10.
March 23&24
for ice show. 3/23 is an early release date.
Can the school show be about
- Synchro team - estimate is $360/skater for
13 skaters - ice cost @ $80/hr for 22 sessions. Maybe change to 18 sessions and
reduce cost. Need to look when will start, etc.
Put something
on registration to caveat if we do not have X number of skaters, will not have a synchro team.
Nancy thinks minimum of 13. Will need to determine. $60/hr coaching fee. Nancy to do some more research. Will set up meeting with potential new coach for synchro.
- Plan for registration night - if you plan on
private lessons and do not have a coach, put name on list. Start at 6 p.m both nights - Elementary school cafeteria first
choice, High School second choice, Middle school third choice. Can we put flyers

- Hosting a competition/test session - Do a basic
skills competition, not test. Brad to look into.
- Badger State situation - about 550 skaters
when had event in Wausau, 100 less in Madison. Looking for someone to take over. $300 would be able to purchase Badger State name.
Need judges, fly them here, food, hotel, etc. Do not try as one club,
have other clubs help.
- Ice show dates - March 23 & 24th. Have school show on 23 - early release.
- Sept. 18 Basic Skills instructor/director workshops
in MN -board members - basic skills & competition structure. Enhancing program, communicate with parents, retaining skaters
beyond basic skills. Coaches - teaching tips and standards, practice judging
basic skills competition. Would like to see student coaches go. Up to 8 people,
